Earlier this year fans of the DCEU were treated to one of the few praised films in the fledgling universe with Shazam! The movie didn’t set the box office on fire like last year’s Aquaman but it did well enough that people began to get excited about the long-in-development Black Adam film again. That film, which is set to star Dwayne Johnson, may finally have a filming date.
Heroic Hollywood is reporting, based on reports from one of their sources, that Black Adam will begin filming in April of 2020. The source also said that the film will have the titular anti-hero facing off against none other than Hawkman. This is an interesting choice as Hawkman is usually a hero and Black Adam is usually a villain. However, Black Adam is expected to be more of an anti-hero in his film than a straight-up bad-guy.
Hawkman was created in 1940 and first appeared in Flash Comics #1 as Carter Hall who was cursed to reincarnate by an ancient Egyptian priest. Like many heroes, there have been many different versions of the hero and the Katar Hol version hit the pages in 1964. Hol was an alien police officer sent to earth to capture a villain. DC has even tried to tie these two versions together using Hall’s reincarnation curse.
