Ever since the Switch started to gain commercial success, fans have been hungry for one popular video game franchise…Super Smash Bros.
The all-star fighting game most recently had a new edition hit on both the Wii U and 3DS around four years ago. Both were slightly different, but felt very similar overall. Since the Switch has become the port haven, many fans have stated that they’d be happy in just getting a Wii U port, but will we be getting a game at all?
One of the admins on the ResetEra forums recently stated that yes, the Switch will, in fact, be getting a game very soon, and that the game will be announced AND released this year. But what version will we be getting?

Sadly, the admin couldn’t confirm. It could be a “full sequel,” a “half-sequel,” or even a “deluxe definitive edition port,” but at the very least they know that even if it is the latter, there will be a lot of extra content to differentiate it from the Wii U.
So Switch players, rejoice! It sounds like a new game is on the horizon. While this isn’t official, ResetEra does have a history of being right. Let’s just hope it’s at least a half-sequel. Since it’s been four full years since its predecessor, a full-on sequel wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, especially for a system that’s had to feel like the younger step-brother of every other system.
