With news coming yesterday that Disney’s Star Wars-themed land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, will open in Disneyland next summer, with Disneyworld said to open their version a few months later. According to the blog Disney and More, a new rumor says that Universal is making a land of their own, based off of another popular science fiction franchise, Star Trek.

The Universal parks at one time featured a live-action interactive Star Trek show, called Star Trek Adventures. Universal did recently purchase a lot of land in the Orlando area, so it appears as if some sort of new park is on the way. Projects like Galaxy’s Edge and this rumored Star Trek land are how we get places like Westworld. Just as how CGI has become more and more real, so will the experiences at parks such as these.
I was never into Star Trek (I do think the recent set of movies are good though, at least the first two), but I would still visit a land based on the franchise, I mean why not? And seeing how there are millions of people that are into Star Trek, if this rumor turns out to be true, it would be an ideal way to compete with what Disney has going on over at their parks.
