Ryan Reynolds Joins John Krasinski For Fantasy Comedy Imaginary Friends

John Krasinski may have made his name as Jim Halpert on The Office, but we now know him as the great director of that horror-thriller A Quiet Place and as the new take on the Tom Clancy character Jack Ryan. Krasinski has recently finished up production on A Quiet Place 2, so it was inevitable that his next big directorial effort would be coming his way fairly soon.

In a bit of a twist, his next movie — which he will write, director, produce, and star in — is a fantasy comedy called Imaginary Friends, THR reports. Co-starring with Krasinski is Ryan Reynolds.

The film follows a man who can see other people’s imaginary friends, and befriends those who have been discarded or forgotten. But, in this weird, weird world, some of these imaginary friends turn dark when abandoned, and Reynolds’ character is the man who has to save the world from said imaginary friends when they turn.

Paramount will be picking up this film, beating out the likes of Sony and Lionsgate in a heated bidding war. It may not be the most expected film from Krasinski, but it really does sound cool.
