Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 To Get The Comic Treatment?

There are numerous films where regardless of their predecessors, some of us can’t help but wonder what could have been.  Batman Triumphant, the actual Justice League, Justice League 2, and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4.  Yes, not that any of those warranted another sequel, but with many either being pitched or in development it is easy to wonder what they may have become.  As we know, Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 was supposed to hit around 2007, but they ended up rebooting the franchise instead.  The fourth installment in the original franchise was set to have Anne Hathaway as Felicia Hardy, Bruce Campbell as Mysterio, and John Malkovich as the Vulture.  As interesting as that sounds, maybe Sony was worried that they would have character overload like Spider-Man 3 and that is what partially lead to the reboot.

Recently though, artist Alex Ross ignited quite the rumor mill with his Twitter posts which were captured by other Twitter users seen below, due to the originals being taken down.

Could this merely be previous art work, or could it be something more, which many fans are speculating.  The thought is that Marvel Comics may be giving Raimi the comics platform in order to share his vision with Alex Ross penning the serialized covers is extremely enticing.

Marvel editor-in-chief CB Cebulski didn’t clear things up, taking to Twitter to say:

So, does that give some validity to Ross’ original posts? Hmm, I am actually pretty interested and hope there is some follow through!  I think this would be a pretty cool platform for many films that were thrown out.  It could give lost films some interesting exposure while still helping the brands profit in a different way.  What are your thoughts?  Do the posts hold any weight?  Would you by a Spider-Man 4 serialized comic adaption?  Are there any other films that were never made that you could like to see in the form of a comic adaption?  Leave your thoughts in the usual spot, and thanks for reading!
