Sean Gunn Says Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 Will ‘Work Itself Out’

Marvel Studios isn’t exactly in a bad place right now. Captain Marvel is set to make some big bucks at the box office this coming weekend, thereby extending the studio’s reign as the place to turn for crowd-pleasing superhero movies. However, that is not to say they haven’t had their snags in recent years. We all know what I’m talking about here. I’m talking about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

In case you’re new to this, franchise writer-director James Gunn had written a third movie and was set to begin production the beginning of this year. However, thanks to some web sleuthing, some tweets from years back resurfaced, putting Disney in a bit of an odd spot for a family-friendly company. They have little choice but to let him go from the project, leaving the third film without a helmsman. But this wasn’t just any Marvel project. This was the third entry in a franchise that became virtually synonymous with its director. Here we are months later without a director, and yet one of its stars and brother of the former director seems to be pretty optimistic about its future.

“I don’t know exactly how that’s all gonna work, but I feel like we are going to make the third movie, I’m excited to make it, I think it’s a disservice to the fans if we didn’t make it and I know the people who worked on the ‘Guardians’ movies are really a family, and we’re gonna come together and make the best movie we can regardless of who’s in charge. I just have this feeling everything’s gonna work itself out.”

Luckily, it has since been confirmed by the Marvel Studios president that, in spite of James Gunn departing the project, they will still be utilizing the script. So while it is very unfortunate that we will not be seeing his directorial stamp, we at least know there will be some continuity in style, even if it is only at the written level.

What do you think of Gunn’s comments? Do you agree that things will just work itself out? Or are you less optimistic about the prospect of this film? Let us know your thoughts and comments!
