Shazam! Will Have Two To Three Weeks Of Additional Photography

Next year will see two interesting projects hit theaters from DC. The one that interests me most, as I’ve said repeatedly, is the standalone Joker film, but that’s not to say I have zero interest in the filming coming out earlier in the year. I’m talking about Shazam!, which had one of the better trailers coming out of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Based on everything we’ve seen so far, production seems to have gone on smoothly, but as we can expect with every big-budget blockbuster, it will also have its fair share of additional photography. According to a new post from the folks over at Production Weekly, it looks like they’re looking at three weeks of work ahead. Take a look at the post below.

But they weren’t the only ones to post about Shazam! The GWW corroborated this post — though they call it two weeks instead of three (technically it falls in between, so that’s probably why there’s the discrepancy).

Generally speaking, anything ranging from a few weeks to one week is pretty regular with these kinds of movies, so as it stands, there is nothing to be concerned about. Sometimes the additional photography requires the reshooting of footage already captured, but oftentimes it also requires shooting new scenes based on scene rewrites.

What are these scenes? Well, we’ll be sure to ask director David F. Sandberg the next time we see him. However, based on the filmmaker’s overall enthusiasm he’s had for the project, I wouldn’t worry too much. I obviously can’t guarantee a runaway hit, but I’d be surprised if this one ended up being another Suicide Squad.

Shazam! hits theaters on April 5, 2019.
