Shazam: Zachary Levi Assures Fans Those Muscles Are Real

Have you ever spent several months hitting the gym, eating healthy, and basically reshaping your body for the role of a lifetime? Things seem to be going well, and when you look at yourself in the mirror, you’re very proud of the work you’ve done to make it happen. You may even watch the dailies from the movie you’re working on and smile in disbelief.

“Wow, I look amazing!” you say to yourself. You’re on cloud nine because of how great you look and feel, and when the trailer drops for your movie, your jaw hits the floor. For some reason, many of the fans are convinced the muscles you bled to will into existence were fake. Such is the reality for one poor Zachary Levi, who is playing the role of Shazam in the upcoming DC film Shazam!

“Does it look fake to you? Come on!” Levi said to Variety, pointing to his butt. He then went on to discuss his workout regimen, which sent him to the gym five to six times a week and had him eating 3,000 to 4,000 calories:

“I immediately put on about 24 pounds and then we carved that down in about half, so I’ve been hovering around 215 pounds, and I’m in the best shape of my life and stronger and happier and healthier than I’ve ever been. Honestly, that’s the stuff that I’m most ecstatic about, which is just the level of health that I’ve gotten to — mental health, emotional health, spiritual health, physical health — I am so jazzed about that and I want to keep talking about that, particularly mental health.”

So there you have it, folks! As said by the guy who has every reason to convince us the muscles we see on screen, his muscles are real! But, of course, whether or not the internet believes it will be a different story altogether.

What do you think? Are those muscles real? Or are they not? Let us know down below!
