With news coming yesterday that director James Mangold would direct a Boba Fett standalone film, today we learn that Simon Kinberg will help Mangold write the film. Kinberg is no stranger to big name characters as he was the writer on both X-Men: Days Of Future Past and X-Men-Apocalypse, as well as the upcoming Dark Phoenix. Kinberg is also credited as the co-creator of Disney’s animated series, Star Wars Rebels.
While an Obi-Wan Kenobi anthology is said to be being developed over at Lucasfilm, the new announcement of the Boba Fett film seems to have taken priority over the Kenobi film.

Mangold and Kinberg are probably the best-matched writing and directing team for a Star Wars film since Disney took over the franchise in 2012. Fans are excited that Mangold is heading up the film, a big reason for that is because of the farewell he gave Wolverine in Logan. They hope his understanding of Hugh Jackman’s beloved Wolverine will carry over to Boba Fett and the character will be treated properly.
Some of you may remember hearing back in March that Kinberg was been rumored to have been working on a Boba Fett film, as it sets now, that information seems to have turned out to be true.
