It’s no doubt everyone is going to be receptive towards director S.J. Clarkson at the helm for Star Trek 4.

With the announcement only a few days old, the cast is already clamoring to re-board the U.S.S. Enterprise.

LRM caught up with one of the crew members with Simon Pegg or aka Scotty.

At the red carpet event for Newport Beach Film Festival over the weekend, Pegg was being honored at the festival for his achievements.

We asked for a quick comment from Simon Pegg on S.J. Clarkson taking the director’s chair as the first female director.

Here’s what he had to say:

“Fantastic. I think it’s just great. I was really excited when I heard that news. What a great thing for the franchise. It’s about time and I’m excited.”

S.J. Clarkson is best known for television director for Marvel shows like Jessica Jones and The Defenders. The script is currently under development by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. With this announcement, Quentin Tarantino is still rumored for the next installment after the completion of his film, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

The rumored plot for Star Trek 4 will involve Chris Hemworth, as Captain George Kirk from 2009’s Star Trek.

Pegg will star in Paramount’s Mission: Impossible—Fallout that opens in theaters on July 27.
