The Darkest Minds: Skylan Brooks On Superpowers and Novel Adaptation [Exclusive Interview]

The children are at risk.

In a dystopian future. The Darkest Minds takes a different approach on a government warfare against children who develop superpowers.

Based off the novel from Alexandra Bracken’s novel of the same name, it stars Amandla Stenberg, Harris Dickinson, Mandy Moore, Miya Cech, Gwendoline Christie and Skylan Brooks.

It follows four young teens as they seek out safe haven in the woods after they’ve been seen as threats by the government. They must band together on the run and soon must combine their powers to fight back.

The screenplay is written by Chad Hodge. Jennifer Yuh Nelson is making her live-action feature directorial debut.

LRM Online sat down with actor Skylan Brooks during a special screening of The Darkest Minds earlier this week. We discussed his experience and attraction to the project, the novel itself and superpowers.

The Darkest Minds has early showings tonight and will be released nationwide in theaters tomorrow.
