Smash Bros. Nintendo Reveals Banjo-Kazooie And Dragon Quest Heroes

Nintendo had quite the packed Direct for this year’s E3, but in addition to the standard game announcements, trailers, and gameplay overviews, they also bookended the Direct with a couple of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate reveals. While the game has been out for some time, they have been hard at work developing new characters to be added in for the DLC, and per usual, these reveals were quite cool.

The first came in the form of the Dragon Quest Hero. They started off by revealing the Hero from Dragon Quest XI, whose game hits Switch later this year, but then things got a little…confusing? We saw other heroes from older games join the fray — three others in addition to the XI hero. And then, we saw another few join up, for a total of…well, it was hard to tell. It’s possible we have upwards of eight heroes.

It’s not clear if these guys are basically just costume change versions of each other, but that’s a good bet.

And then Nintendo capped off their presentation with another big reveal of Banjo and Kazooie from Banjo-Kazooie. Yup, this beloved Rareware duo hasn’t been in a Nintendo game for years, but they remain a cornerstone for many American players. The reveal came via a fakeout from Duck Hunt, but we all knew it was real, didn’t we?
