Solo: A Star Wars Story actor Paul Bettany, who is probably best known nowadays for his role as Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has revealed the text he sent to Solo director Ron Howard, that eventually landed him a role in the film. In speaking with Uproxx, the actor talked about how he ended up in the upcoming Han Solo origin film.
“Hey, Ron, have you ever spent long winter evenings like I have wondering why I’m not in the Star Wars franchise?”

The word is that Howard’s response was “LOL. Let me get back to you.” It wasn’t long before Bettany was headed to London to start shooting, a mere two weeks after texting Howard. It appears as if it doesn’t hurt to do a little bit of self-promotion, especially when you have a direct line to the director.
Bettany also stated that Star Wars was a huge influence on his career choice, “it was pretty instrumental in making me want to become an actor.” Bettany should make for a good villain and be a fine addition to the Star Wars franchise.
Can you believe it? I made it through an entire Solo article without mentioning the film’s troubled production.
