Released early Tuesday morning via the YouTube accounts of Sony Entertainment and Will Smith, the second trailer for Bad Boys For Life was released to the masses. Taking place more than 16 years after Bad Boys 2, the two are still partners in the Miami PD. However, while Mike is prepared to hunt down criminals well into his elder years, Marcus seems ready to give up the badge and retire. This leads to Mike being partnered with a new generation of potential cops looking to follow in their footsteps—or as Mike refers to them, “High School Musical with guns.”
Things take a personal route when it seems Mike is being targeted by assassins. Up against the wall, Mike looks to his best friend and partner Marcus to team-up once against and being down the bad guys on the streets of Miami.
Apologies, but this writer is unable to contain his excitement for this. This calls back to the days of watching The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air with my parents—and secretly watching Martin in my room. Therefore, you can understand the level of joy this young boy reached when I received a copy of the first Bad Boys on VHS back in 1995. And it’s been like that ever since.
Kids, a VHS is a cassette tape that film was initially—you know what, just google it.
While Bad Boys For Life has a different crew behind the camera this time, it seems to continue with the level of action/comedy that made the second film a success at the box office. The film is slated to be released the Friday before Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. After these last two trailers and the clips posted on social media this past year, there is no question that this writer will for sure be counting down the days until January 17th, 2020.
