Spawn Could Get New Animated Series

Spawn fans won’t just have the new film to look forward to anymore. Speaking with ScreenGeek, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane teased a new animated TV series as well.

“I’m going to get the [Spawn] movie out and then we still have the rights for TV and animation and we’ll just figure it out. I’ve also got to figure out how to get Keith David in my movie, too. Just for one line.”

Fans from the ‘90s will remember that the dark and violent TV series came out around the same time as the maligned film. However, while the film failed on many levels, the animated series managed to resonate with a great number of fans, and capture what made the character great.

Also of note was actor Keith David in the titular role of Spawn. But is this something they’ll be able to capture alongside the film? Is this something we need at this point in time?

We’ll have to wait and see. However, the film is set to begin production this coming February.
