This news broke a little late for me last night sorry, Spider-Man: Brand New Day casts actor Marvin Jones II as Tombstone. If you’ve been following the Barside Buzz around this movie then you’ll know Tombstone was rumored as one of the villains. Though, the casting for the character had remained locked, until yesterday.
As per Deadline,
‘While production on Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been paused for a week, after star Tom Holland suffered a concussion on set, casting on the project continues, as Marvin Jones III has been tapped for the role of Tombstone, sources tell Deadline.’
Tombstone of course has never appeared in live-action before. However, I’m sure any fans of Spider-Man know the characters from cartoons video games, etc. Like many Spider-Man characters he has had various designs and power levels. He’s been a low level wannabe gangster boss and he’s been a Kingpin like super boss.

It’s also worth noting that this is a part Jones is familiar with. Not only has he voiced the character previously. –
‘Jones comes to the new live-action Spider-Man after being tapped to voice Tombstone in Sony’s animated Oscar winner Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, as well as the threequel Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is forthcoming.’
– He was also supposed to play him in live-action for the now very much cancelled ‘El Muerto’ movie starring Bad Bunny. I always just assumed someone at Sony woke up from a drug bender and reality hit them hard on that one.
Anyway, to say this casting is popular online amongst the Spidey-Fans is an understatement. Jones has previously appeared in the likes of Black Lightning, Halo, The Equalizer.
That’s another name we can tick off the list. We still have Ramrod and Tarantula not yet cast, or more likely not revealed. Also, a mysterious unnamed female main villain. That’s if we go by the rumors we had going into this production of course. Some of that could be wrong.
