Spider-Man: Homecoming Gets An Anime Opening

Spider-Man: Homecoming is a gem of a movie that has a lot of what I love about the MCU mixed in with some of the best aspects of the Spider-Man character. With its deft balance of grand Marvel moments and the lower-key high school bits, I think it captured a lot of what many audiences wanted out of a movie like this — which is something the Amazing Spider-Man series wasn’t quite able to accomplish.

I’m also an avid fan of the anime medium (Is it a medium? Sound off with your opinion down below!), and have been for 20 years now. I’ve seen more shows than you can shake a stick at, and like many anime fans, I’ve obsessed over many an anime opening, which really become vital to establishing the tone and style of a show.

So what if Spider-Man: Homecoming had an anime opening? YouTuber no name Animation answered that very question. Using footage from the movie, he put together what I think is about as close as we’ll ever get to seeing that happen, and it is stellar.

The edit has many key aspects that make great anime openings, including flat profile panning shots, shots of our hero sort of lounging around, little moments that spotlight the supporting cast, and fluid CG action that kicks in in the second half.

What do you think of this opening? Does it hit the spot for you? Let us know down below!
