Star Trek: Patrick Stewart’s Picard Series To Debut By End Of Next Year

CBS seems to be going all-in on the Star Trek property. Last year saw the debut of Star Trek: Discovery on their CBS All Access streaming service, and since then, they’ve made it perfectly clear that it wouldn’t be the only one to hit in the coming years. Just a few weeks back, it was confirmed that they’d also be releasing a comedic animated series called Star Trek: Lower Decks, which would follow the unsung heroes who don’t have access to the bridge.

But there is one series fans have been looking forward to for some time — a show that followed Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s Jean-Luc Picard, played by Patrick Stewart. In all honesty, in the wake of Lower Deck’s announcement, some worried the network wasn’t taking the Picard potential seriously, but luckily, they’re taking it very seriously.

Speaking at the 46th Annual UBS Global Media and Communications Conference, he teased another show, saying:

“In 2019, it’s not one Star Trek, it’s two Star Treks. Discovery at the beginning of the year, and Picard will start at the end of the year.”

So, there you have it. We will be getting some kind of show following Picard in the year to come. What that show will feel like and how it’ll compare to its sister show, Star Trek: Discovery, is currently unknown, but I’m sure there are plenty of fans out there celebrating — at least until they remember they’ll have to shell out an extra monthly fee for CBS All Access.

Will another Trek series with Patrick Stewart returning be enough for you to fork out the extra dough each month? Let us know your thoughts down below!
