Star Trek Shows To Have Individual Tonal Vision

It was recently announced that there would be an all new Star Trek series that focused on Captain Jean Luc Picard. As most of you probably know, CBS has plans for a small screen Star Trek expanded universe. While the minds behind the idea, notably producer Alex Kurtzman, weren’t keen on revealing individual show ideas, however producer Heather Kadin spoke to TrekMovie at New York Comic-Con about the general concept.

“I think the one thing we can say which is more general is that it’s been a real conscious effort that every project we do have its own voice and occupy its own space. I don’t mean its own space in canon, I mean its own tonal vision. Because you shouldn’t tune in to Discovery and wonder if you flipped the channel, that it was Picard. They should feel different, they should have different messages coming from different people.”

I’ve never been much into Star Trek, which is sort of weird because I love Star Wars, and Firefly, and science fiction in general, but the Trek never stuck with me, though I do enjoy the newer films. Having said that, I am interested to see where this idea of a Star Trek small-screen universe goes.
