Star Wars – Diego Luna To Reprise His Rogue One Role In New Live-Action Series

While Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian is n full swing, just a little while ago Disney CEO Bob Iger announced what the next live-action Star Wars series would be. The new show is set to follow Cassian Andor, the rebel spy from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The show will be set in the early years of the Rebellion, and actor Diego Luna is set to reprise his role as the character.

The series is expected to begin production at the first of the year and will of course air on Disney’s upcoming streaming service, Disney Play. The show will tell stories of espionage and dig deeper into the forming of the Rebel Alliance. The show does not yet have a release date. Diego Luna had the following to say in the Disney announcement.

“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”

Diego was part of the great cast of the film, which I still hold as my favorite Disney made Star Wars film. While I like this idea and will surely watch the show, can we get some Jedi and Sith in the next live-action series? (I can feel Jammer rolling his eyes at that sentence). Sure, we’ve seen Jedi and we’ve seen the Sith, but not on the platform of television where a much more in-depth story can be told.
