Star Wars Gives Us First Official Look At A New Alien ‘Droidsmith’ From The Rise Of Skywalker

Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker hits most territories between December 18th and 21st and as we reported yesterday, this week is when we will start to see a concerted promotional effort kick into gear from Disney.

On that front, yesterday StarWars.com shared the first official look at a new alien called Babu Frik. The site described Frik as a ‘droidsmith’, which effectively seems to mean someone who can reprogram and do anything with droids. Check him out in the image above.

Here is the official description of Frik,

“The tiny Anzellan droidsmith, first glimpsed in toy form during the Triple Force Friday livestream event, works among the Spice Runners of Kijimi and can reprogram or modify virtually any droid — regardless of the security measures protecting its systems.”

Now although this is very little information to go on, this will likely prick the interest of those that have been following the very detailed leaks for this movie. Don’t worry, I’m not going to discuss those here, suffice to say that this character’s description and purpose has come up on multiple reports, which simply adds another layer of validation to those leaks.

Back to the official information though, and when you look at this character it’s not immediately obvious how small he is, but he’s tiny. I personally really like his design, though, of course until we see him in the movie itself, who can say whether he is a worthy addition to the Star Wars universe?

What do you think of Babu Frik? Leave your thoughts in the usual place below as always.
