Star Wars: One of The Last Jedi’s Most Burning Questions Has Been Answered

Ok, so that title was just a little bit of bait. If you feel you’ve been bamboozled or hoodwinked you can turn back now.

All right, folks, here it is, the bombshell of the year as far as Star Wars. Did we somehow learn the fate of Rey, Kylo, Finn, and good old Papa Palpatine? We didn’t. Did we learn of a new film or TV series in the works? Nope, we didn’t do that either.

What we have for you folks is the name of the porg that Chewie became best friends forever with during The Last Jedi.

Are you ready?

Terbus. Yes, Terbus.

Well, it’s not what I would have named him, I would have gone with the classy and distinguished, Porgy Von Porgington III. Since Terbus comes from an island off the coast of Ireland, how about Porgy McPorgerton, a foine Irish name itis. However, seeing how he is a pudgy little dude that is really quite rotund, I think it fits him. And no matter what happens in The Rise of Skywalker, at least we know the name of Chewie’s porg buddy, right?

While we’re just now learning about this, Rian Johnson more or less made the name official roughly two years ago. Johnson attended a Q&A session after a screening of The Last Jedi not long after the film was released. One of the hosts of the Tatooine Sons: A Star Wars Podcast (who happen to be father and his sons.) asked Johnson the porg’s name.

You can check out the exchange between Johnson and podcasting siblings Samuel the Hutt, or BB-N8 (I’m not sure which one asked the question, but at least I looked up their names MovieWeb!) below.

Rian Johnson: “What do you think his name is?”

Podcaster: “Maybe Terbus?”

Rian Johnson: “‘Terbus’? Pablo, if you’re listening to this livestream: that Porg’s name is now Terbus. It’s a good Star Wars name.”

So yeah, after watching The Last Jedi, one thing I never wondered about was the porg’s name. Of all the questions to ask Rian Johnson, even if unlike me, you enjoyed the film, why this?

I do think it’s pretty cool for the podcasters. They’re part of Star Wars history now, and cool of Disney, and all involved (yes even Rian Johnson, this actually might be my favorite contribution of his to the film) for making this fan’s suggestion canon.

Name the porg, and tell us the question you would have asked Rian Johnson instead in the comments down below!
