The very reliable Production Weekly has the Star Wars Rey sequel production date listed as April 2024, however with an incorrect synopsis according to one outlet. PW has all the details we know already. Including New Jedi Order era, Daisy Ridley starring, written by Steven Knight, and directed by Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy. They say the production is booked for Pinewood Studios (England) in April of next year. The release date being the May 2026 date we recently had for the first of the next three Star Wars movies.
What I will say is that every single one of these details is something that’s already been rumored. It was only recently that insider Jeff Sneider said the production was planned for April, but dependent on how the WGA strike goes. Also it looks like the site has the title listed as New Jedi Order. Actually that’s about the only title we can actually rule out. New Jedi Order is the title of the era Lucasfilm are defining this movie to the be the first of.
There is also a synopsis listed, which is unusual for a not currently submitted script. Check it out. I kept the poor grammar as per the source.

Set roughly 15 years after Rey’s victory over Palpatine and the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The sequel delves into Rey’s courageous endeavor to restore the Jedi Order, where she assumed the role of a mentor to two promising students – a girl and a boy. As their training progresses, it becomes evident that the girl possesses an extraordinary abilities, destined to emerge as the future leader.
However, I have to say when I read this something felt very off, and now one outlet has come out to claim this is not an accurate synopsis. Star Wars News Net, who don’t really delve into the leaks game, are the ones claiming this is not legit. I’m inclined to believe the site which tends to post only official news and no rumors. Partly because I think what we are seeing listed there is a synopsis that more closely matches the film as it was when written by Damon Lindelof.
Remember Steven Knight hasn’t submitted his version yet due to the WGA strike. We don’t have Lindelof’s script either to be fair. However, rumors are it featured a much older Rey and the leads of the movie were the two students. It was only after Lindelof left that Kathleen Kennedy declared the movie would be set 15 years after Rise of Skywalker. Prior to that it was probably much more. Therefore, this synopsis seems to be an amalgamation of details we know about the current version and previous versions of the script.

To be fair, synopsis is not really what PW does. They’ve absolutely just copied synopsis from the likes of Marvel.com before, incorrectly. The real news from that site is where and when a production is booked in. When it comes to that news, I have no reason to doubt PW is correct. April is likely what Lucasfilm hopes to pull off. However, just don’t believe that synopsis please. There’s just now way they could know what’s in Knight’s version of the story yet.
So, the Star Wars Rey sequel production date listed as April 2024, however with an incorrect synopsis. What do you think, what do you hope to see instead for this movie?? Thoughts below as always.
