Star Wars Rumor: Could There Be Some Footage Released For Episode IX Before Christmas?

Rumors have been swirling around for the last week or so that Disney may be about to release something for Star Wars: Episode 9 before Christmas. Now, that has been translated by some fans as expecting a trailer to hit, but actually, that seems less and less likely as we move closer to the holiday period next week.

StarWarsNews.Net has reported on these rumors along with a little analysis and some insider information and it appears that a proper trailer, even in teaser form, shouldn’t be expected. According to the outlet, their sources indicate that there is no way a proper teaser could be coming so quickly due to the fact that unlike all other recent Disney trailers, nothing has been submitted for rating that’s related to Star Wars so far. This makes it highly unlikely that a trailer is coming, because previous Disney trailers were submitted for rating up to two weeks prior to their release aka Avengers: Endgame.

We also must realize that the film is still in principal photography and therefore it is unlikely that much of the footage that exists will be in a state that it could be developed into a trailer. However, the outlet does claim that one source still thinks something is going to appear within the next week online. We can speculate all we want as to what this is, and fans are already doing so. Some are predicting a trailer which uses mostly footage from the other 8 movies with perhaps one small teaser image or short piece of footage at the close for Episode 9, with maybe a title reveal.

If that is the case, and we don’t know that it is, it wouldn’t really have any footage in it that needs to be rated. It is also something that’s been done before and when Revenge of the Sith was first promoted it used footage from the other movies rather than from Sith itself.

So, to summarise, there may or may not be ‘something’ that’s released in the next week for Star Wars: Episode 9. But if it does happen, it is unlikely to be anything more than a potential title reveal rather than show any footage. And if that doesn’t satisfy you, don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just passing on this rumor for our own readers to mull over.

Would you like to see a promotional trailer which essentially only reveals the title of Episode 9, or would you rather they keep those cards close to their chest until a full teaser trailer can be created? Sound off with any thoughts you have in the usual place below as always.
