When it was announced that there would be a bevy of potential spin-off stories set in the Star Wars universe, there wasn’t a whole lot of enthusiasm for the numerous ideas being thrown around. This included the Boba Fett film we know was in development, as well as the Han Solo film that ultimately flopped at the box office. However, if there was one film a lot of fans wanted, it was an Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off.

For years, fans saw other ideas get pursued instead of an Obi-Wan film, and this is despite the fact that an Obi-Wan movie is exactly the type of premise that suits itself to more stories. But, it looks like it was never meant to be…but don’t put away your lightsabers just yet, because a rumor out there is pointing to a different fate for ol’ Ben.

According to some sources over at Star Wars News Net, Disney+ is prioritizing an Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series, and that it could be as long as six episodes! The outlet stated that this project was originally going to be a film, but that things changed when Solo: A Star Wars Story flopped hard.

Of course, as with all rumors, take it all with a grain of salt, and we have no idea of this negates the earlier reports about a handful of other concepts for Disney+. But, if true, this is pretty good news. Sure, it’s disappointing this isn’t a theatrical take, but if it really is six episodes, you can bet they’ll be putting in some solid resources behind it.
