Star Wars Rumor: Secret [SPOILER] To Be a Feature Of The Mandalorian?

It goes without saying some of the rumored information here could be considered (minor) SPOILERS for The Mandalorian, so with that in mind, decide for yourself whether you wish to proceed.

Production on The Mandalorian continues and whilst we still don’t have a release date for the first live-action Star Wars TV show, we do expect the aim is to have this ready to pop when Disney releases their Disney + streaming service. We are slowly starting to hear some key details from the production through the usual leaks and rumors and scoop site MakingStarWars has been forthcoming with any details they have acquired.

So we must take notice of the latest piece of information to come from the outlet. The information this time pertains to how The Mandalorian will be continuing to upgrade his armor as the first season progresses. Here is what Amanda Ward of MakingStarWars has said regarding how our lead character will be getting those upgrades. But remember, that this is all just rumor (albeit a strong rumor) for now and could remain so until the show actually hits TV screens.

“Supposedly there is a secret enclave of Mandalorians our hero is affiliated with. It is in this enclave that an armorer resides. It appears this woman is the key to his major upgrades. It almost sounds like she’s Q from James Bond for our hero, but I might be overstepping with that comparison. It isn’t clear how much of the costume is older Mandalorian armor and how much are parts he’s acquired in his adventures or misadventures especially as the story moves on. But I did see him fighting a lot of Death Troopers and I’m assuming that’s where he gets those pieces. That is kind of cool when you think about it as the Empire is dying post Return of the Jedi and the Rogue One Death Troopers are about to be a thing of the past that he carries into that new era. It also sounds like that enclave is going to be really inspiring for future Star Wars content.”

I have to say this sounds like something from a video game whereas you progress and defeat enemies, you are able to craft their weapons and armor into your own through some sort of smith or crafting station. It’s actually a really neat little idea, and it gives the impression of this secret society of Mandalorian’s helping one another out across the Galaxy. I guess I would compare this on film to the likes of the whole Continental aspect of the John Wick movies. Not essential to the plot of the first movie at all, but allowed for some proper world building, which for me is too often discarded as an important tool thus far by Disney in the Star Wars universe.

I am super excited to see what The Mandalorian can deliver and with each new piece of information I seem to be getting more and more hyped, which is a good thing for this currently disappointed Star Wars fan. I guess have become kinda infamous around here as being a Star Wars fan that hated The Last Jedi. I still maintain my stance, though as I have always told my colleagues here at LRM, I reserve my right to change my mind if Episode 9 can somehow elevate The Last Jedi and make it seem worthwhile. Also, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to see Disney succeed with putting this franchise back where it belongs on the very top, I just don’t think their ideas have so far been good enough. The Mandalorian however, this is starting to sound like a step in the right direction. Fingers Crossed.
