Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Mark Hamill On Turning To The Dark Side

We have all speculated quite a bit well before the teaser of Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released, but now with the limited footage we have, our contemplation has gone into overdrive. I still think that Snoke may be an altered “ghost” form of Anakin Skywalker, but what is more important is that our champion of light, Luke Skywalker, may be drinking from the Sith Lord punch bowl.

In an interview with ABC, Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the series (duh), had this to say.

“There’s a difference between teaser and a trailer. A teaser is supposed to show you dynamic images that heighten your awareness and make you want to see the trailer, but avoid all story points if at all possible. [But] I think that’s the only story point that’s in the teaser, which is Luke saying it’s time for the Jedi to end. It was as shocking to me to read what Rian [Johnson, the director] had written as I’m sure it will be for the audience.”

At this point, I am sure the interviewer put his hand on his chin, and with a grim look asked if he could indeed turn to the Dark Side. Hamill responded,

It’s possible, anything’s possible.

This all comes from the one line he uttered in the teaser trailer, “It’s time for the Jedi to end .” Could the big bad villain of this new trilogy be Luke himself? Luke has his father’s blood, and there can only be two, so is it possible Kylo and Luke could become the next two Sith Lords? I get it that the Sith were eliminated, ghost-forms of fallen Jedi are typically of good nature, but anything is possible now. Hamill said so himself.

It is clear that Luke will at least train Rey, and despite my protests of wanting him riding piggyback on her shoulders while she runs an obstacle course, it does not seem that will happen.

What do you guys think? Will Luke end up being the villain only to redeem himself at the end much like his father did? Just how powerful is Rey, could she defeat Luke? Will we ever learn about C-3PO’s red arm? Will Kylo end up being the hero in this? Speak up fellow Star Wars fans!

Cheers! Hope to continue to entertain you guys and girls!
