Star Wars: The Last Jedi – The Film Received Four Oscar Nominations.

Yesterday brought us the 2018 Oscar Nominations, some were expected and some were surprising. Guillermo Del Toro’s The Shape of Water brought home a most impressive 13 nominations.

While many fans were hoping Mark Hamill would get a nomination for Best Actor for his performance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, unfortunately, that didn’t happen, however, the film did receive four nominations.

The film was nominated in the following categories:

Best Achievement in Visual Effects

Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures

Best Achievement in Sound Editing

Best Achievement in Sound Mixing

It is no surprise that John Williams was once again nominated, at this point that is something we have all come to expect. Williams’ score is one of the things I enjoyed most about the film (along with the opening sequence, which may be my favorite of all the films).

Star Wars films are usually good for being nominated and even winning in the technical categories. A New Hope was nominated for 10 Oscars, and the film won six, the best total to date for the Star Wars films, included in those nominations were Best Picture, Best Director for George Lucas, and Best Supporting Actor for Sir Alec Guiness.

Do you think Mark Hamill should have received a Best Actor Nomination? Let us know in the comments down below!
