Lucasfilm had announced an original Star Wars television series earlier this year that was going to be exclusively available on Disney’s streaming service set to launch sometime next year. Today via starwars.com we have a first look at Lucasfilm’s first live action streaming service series set in the Star Wars Universe, The Mandalorian which has officially began production.
This series will tell the story of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy where the New Republic has no authority. That gunslinger as seen in the photo below will be wearing armor to that of bounty hunter Boba Fett. The story will be taking place between the fall of the Empire and the rise of First Order. On other words the time between Star Wars Episode 6: Return of The Jedi & Episode 7: The Force Awakens.
This series is being written and executive produced by Jon Favreau. Directing some of the episodes will be Dave Filoni, Deborah Chow, Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard and Taika Waititi. Joining Favreau as executive producer will be Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Serving as co-executive producer will be Karen Gilchrist.
It will be interesting to see how well a Star Wars television show does compared to the films. Also how different will the production be from the films? We’ll have to wait and see to find out.
