Steve Agee To Join James Gunn’s Suicide Squad

This weekend is no doubt filled all kinds of Disney news thanks to D23 in Anaheim, CA but that doesn’t mean other studios aren’t hard at work. James Gunn is currently working on finishing up his cast for his 2021 sequel/reboot Suicide Squad. Even though most audiences and critics agree on it’s poor story line, David Aver’s Suicide Squad, it still managed to make $746.8 million at the global box office. This number showed that there was a lot of interest in the team, it just needed some work.

We know that Suicide Squad is going to have a lot of returning cast members as well as some new additions. Deadline yesterday has reported that comedian Steve Agee will be joining the cast of the film. They say that he will be providing the voice for the super villain King Shark who is a humanoid half man half shark. The character has had a little more exposure in the last few years as he was part of Adam Glass’ Suicide Squad comic book team back in the New 52. He was also featured in the Warner Bros. animated film Suicide Squad: Assault on Arkham in 2014, and has been featured several times in The CW DC series The Flash. King Shark was created by Karl Kesel and briefly first appeared in Superboy Vol. 3 #0 back in October of 1994. He was originally a villain for Superboy.

Agee was also part of the cast for another group of comic book misfits from Marvel Studios, Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as a character named Gef who was one of the members of the Ravagers. He also worked as consulting producer on MTV’s comedy reality series Ridiculousness. He has also starred in Lifetime’s American Princess, NBC’s Superstore, FX’s You’re the Worst, Fox’s New Girl and The Sarah Silverman Program. His voice over work has been featured in Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time and Netflix’s Twelve Forever.

The cast already includes returning actors and actresses Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney and Joel Kinnaman. The new cast members that Agee will be joining are Idris Elba, David Dastmalchain, Daniela Melchior and Flula Borg. The word is that the table read of Suicide Squad is set for September 11th and production starts on Sept. 23rd.
