Stranger Things Actor On His Character’s Sexuality

Stranger Things Star Teases Bigger Role For Will - Confirms Sexuality

Stranger Things 3 saw a natural evolution in the dynamic between our lead characters. We’d originally come to know them at a pivotal time in their lives, and as they got older, it was inevitable that those pesky things called hormones would take hold. We saw plenty of that in the relationships between a lot of the leads — namely, in the romantic department.

And yet, one of the main cast has remained decidedly asexual. For the first half of the season, Will Byers is more concerned with keeping his original crew together to play D&D than he is with landing dates. But what does this mean about his sexuality? Apparently, some fans are wondering if this is a hint at him being gay.

Speaking with TheWrap, actor Noah Schnapp said:

“It’s really up to interpretation. While all the characters were out developing and growing up, Will was in the Upside Down and he was alone there, not interacting with or connected to his friends or the rest of the world. And when he got back, he expected everything to just go back to how it was before, how it was when he was normal and when he was a kid and he wanted to go back to the basement and play D&D.”

I personally interpret Will’s actions in those early episodes as him trying to cling to his childhood and not really a testament of his sexuality one way or another. That being said, you never know. He is at that age where things like that start to come out, so I wouldn’t rule out the possibility.
