Studio TRIGGER Director Wants To Stick With Original Content For The Foreseeable Future

Studio TRIGGER has been around for many years at this point, but it’s this year that they released their first feature film, Promare.

With Promare being the first film in Studio TRIGGER’s repertoire, I wanted to know what the company’s future projects might look like, and in my interview with the film’s director, Hiroyuki Imaishi, I wanted to bring this question up.

I realized that Imaishi wasn’t going reveal any projects so casually, but a ballpark estimate seemed within possible, so I hit around the mark, so to speak. TRIGGER has produced mostly original content but has been known to take on existing intellectual properties like When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace or SSSS.Gridman. With this in mind, I asked if there are any adaptations anyone would like to work on or if they preferred to work on original content.

Imaishi mentioned, “While there are many properties I’d like to adapt I find much joy in creating something from nothing. I get much happiness from world-building. This is why I will focus on original projects for now.”

This interview was done a day before the announcement of Studio Trigger’s BNA – Brand New Animal, making it obvious what he was referring to in retrospect. Nothing has been posted about the BNA – Brand New Animal aside from the announcement and some staff members like director Yoh Yoshinari. It is nice to see Imaishi so passionate about the series as being fully onboard a project will lead to a better result. The world eagerly awaits for new information on BNA – Brand New Animal but rest assured the series is in good hands.
