Study Reveals Which Marvel Television Series Is Their Strongest

Marvel like DC Entertainment has a lot of content out on television and streaming services. They started off with Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. back in 2013, then later added Agent Carter which did not last very long. Soon came the Netflix series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher. Later Freeform added Cloak and Dagger and Hulu has The Runaways and I guess I’ll also mention Inhumans. Fans of Marvel comics have had a lot to watch throughout the years. With surprise cancellations as well as renewals it raises the question, what is Marvel’s most popular show?

Thanks to a study done by Parrot Analytics that was obtained exclusively by Screen Rant, we have the answer to that question. According to their study Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. is their strongest show even above any of the Netflix series. Parrot Analytics is data science company that measures world wide audience demand for TV content.

The success of Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been something that fans have debated about for a while now as it has gone away more and more from it’s original goal of being tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But while it’s shows ratings have not been great, it does perform well on DVR. In their study, Parrot Analytics measures how viewers interact with the show’s brand on the internet, looking at everything from file sharing to social media activity. With all this data they believe that they can provide the most accurate measure of audience demand.

So where does Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. rank? According to the study it ranks in the top 0.03 percent of in-demand television shows worldwide. To give an idea of where this puts the Marvel show, in the U.S. shows with similar demand include series like Better Call Saul, Criminal Minds, and Vikings. The demand for the show were higher than even The Originals, Fear the Walking Dead, Supergirl and Arrow. So even though the show has separated itself more and more from the MCU, it’s growing mythology which has seen it embrace Inhuamns, Kree, Monoliths and even Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider has done enough to keep people watching.

Currently, Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been renewed for a shorter sixth season by ABC. It will air sometime next summer after Marvel’s Avengers 4 hits the theaters. What do you think about this study? Do you agree that Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. is their strongest show? Let us know in the comment section below!
