Suicide Squad 2: Who James Gunn Will Introduce In The Film

If it wasn’t clear that James Gunn was going to be changing things up for The Suicide Squad already, recent rumors of Harley Quinn’s absence (though that’s not confirmed) and Idris Elba replacing Will Smith are really driving that point home. At this point, DC seems to care about continuity as much as Fox ever did with X-Men, and that comes with plenty of good, including a whole new batch of anti-heroes to take up the mantle.

From what we can tell at this point, virtually no one else seems to be returning. Rick Flagg’s state is up in the air, and there is no word on Viola Davis, who played Amanda Waller in the first film. But enough about those. Let’s go ahead and run down the few characters that are rumored to be taking on the moniker of Task Force X in the next movie as of right now. Keep in mind that even if this is right, everything is fluid in Hollywood and can change at the drop of a hat, so keep that in mind.

First up, we have the character Ratcatcher. He’s normally named Otis Flannegan, but the outlet states they’ll likely be gender-swapping this one, so we’ll see what they do with the name. King Shark is another name being thrown around — and this would seem to fill the man-animal quota for the squad. Polka-Dot Man (aka Mr. Polka Dot) who can turn the polka dots on his body into a bunch of different weapons. Finally, there’s Peacemaker, who is so damn committed to peace that he’s willing to take violent measures to ensure it.

Quite fittingly, Peacemaker is the one that writer-director James Gunn likes for Dave Bautista, who was very vocal in defending Gunn when the filmmaker was let go from Disney for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

So what do you think? Does all of this sound fittingly goofy to you? It certainly does to me!
