Believe it or not, we have less than four months until DC’s next film, SUICIDE SQUAD hits the big screen. With its mischievous sense of humor, over-the-top characters, and high-octane action, the film looks to be quite the crowd-pleaser.

Given the film’s ensemble nature, it’d be easy for some to get lost in the shuffle. After all, not only does SUICIDE SQUAD mark the fan-favorite character Harley Quinn’s big screen debut, but it stars Oscar-winner Jared Leto in a new interpretation of the Joker, and has Will Smith in a leading role. As the film approaches, we can expect the actors to reveal little bits and pieces regarding their respective characters, in hopes of familiarizing audiences with them before the flick hits big screens.

Now up on that list is Karen Fukuhara, the actress who plays the mysterious character of Katana, someone who many mainstream audiences haven’t even heard of. At CinemaCon a few weeks back, ComicBook.com was able to catch up with the actress and get a little insight into what we can expect. Here’s what she had to say.

“She’s very loyal to Amanda Waller and Rick Flag. She works under them and keeps a rowdy bunch in line. She’s a protector and a fierce warrior.”

One of the big eye-catching things of the trailers has also been the “souls” floating around the sword. Fukuhara gave a little bit of insight into what that was all about.

“She has her husband’s soul in her sword and I got to talk to Maseo throughout the film and yes, of course that’s the in the film, but you’ll have to wait and see how much of the plays into the movie.”

Finally, Fukuhara spoke a bit about her stunt double, choreography, and the fact that she performed most of her own stunts!

“I was really lucky because I blessed with a really great stunt double and stunt coordinator and they taught me all of the choreography during pre-production. I was able to do all of my own stunts except for one dive role, but all of my stunts. So, yeah, I got to run on top of a car, I did all of my sword work… It really made a difference when I knew everything from muscle memory and I didn’t have to think about it when the cameras were rolling.”
