Supernatural Scooby-Doo Crossover Trailer: The Winchesters Get Animated

After 12-plus seasons of television, the Winchesters have seen pretty much everything under the sun. Well, not quite. As of right now, they have yet to get Pagemaster‘d into a cartoon. The folks over at The CW have been hearing fan cries for the series to cross over with Scooby-Doo, and now they’ve made that wish a reality.

For the past few months, they’ve been pushing the idea of a Supernatural/Scooby-Doo crossover, and with the recent release of plot details for the special episode, it makes sense that they’d finally show a piece of what to expect in the form of a short trailer.

The clip starts off with the Winchesters stepping into the Dean-cave, where a new TV sits — only for it to suck them in. As feared, the animation for this episode ain’t too hot, and pretty much looks about as cheap as I expected. That being said, it’s not as though Hanna Barbera set the bar high in terms of animation quality, so that’s not to say it’s a huge step down from what we’ve seen from Scooby-Doo in the past.

Interestingly enough, the Winchesters won’t just be thrown into a nonexistent episode may specifically for the crossover, but rather the episode “A Night of Fright is No Delight,” which aired back in 1970. In terms of tone, despite the lighthearted trailer, the showrunners have stated in the past that it will be darker than your average Scooby-Doo episode.
