After delivering the Thor franchise a much-needed rejuvenation, Taika Waititi is back for Thor: Love and Thunder. The director hopes to bring another crowd pleasing installment to the film series, which will likely see Natalie Portman take over the mantle of Thor.

Like any other fanbase, Marvel fans have theories along with hopes for the content they receive. One in particluar is some fans wanting Captain Marvel and Valkyrie to have a romantic relationship. Though Waititi doesn’t seem big on the idea, he also warns fans not to talk too much online, as Marvel may intentionally move in the opposite direction as to keep events in a film being a surprise. “The thing is, I think it’s dangerous for people to say too much about what they want with Marvel, because then they will tend to go the other way. You want to listen to the fans to a point. But also you don’t want to have a completely fan-made film because then it doesn’t feel like there’s any point. You want to have people surprised.”

I have to agree with Waititi as far as Marvel heading the opposite way of what fans want. I also think they may see something online and run with it, it just depends on the idea itself. It doesn’t seem like Waititi has anything against this kind of relationship, it appears he just wants to make the film his way, and at this point who knows if Captain Marvel will even make an appearance.
