Thanos Creator Jim Starlin’s Reaction To The Character’s On-Screen Version

Both comic book nerds and moviegoers new to the character loved Thanos from the beginning. From his introduction by the herald-like Ebony Maw, to his manhandling of Hulk, we knew we were witnessing a villain like never seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Us fans weren’t the only ones, as the Purple Titan’s creator, Jim Starlin only needed a couple of minutes to make his decision on the big-screen version of his character. Starlin recently spoke with CinemaBlend and talked about seeing Thanos on the big screen. You can check out what he had to say below.

“Two minutes into the film. I didn’t even have to wait for the Hulk to get beat up, I said, ‘I’m fine. It works. Enjoy the film.’ He looked very cool right from the start. [Josh Brolin did an] unbelievable job, In fact, his movements and the cadence of his delivery was like, it seemed like he’d been reading my mind and studying the comic books on how he moves. The moving, in particular, is what impressed me the most.”

It’s interesting that Starlin was most impressed with Thanos’ movements, as fluid motion isn’t something that’s scene in a comic book. The fact that Starlin feels like his mind was read is one way fans can be sure that they nailed the MCU nailed Thanos.

Imagine having no control over a representation of something you created being portrayed on the biggest platform on which it can be showcased. With so many awful adaptations of other media to screen, video games being at the top of that list, it’s nice to see Starlin pleased with the film version of Thanos.
