The 501st Legion To Be Part Of The Mandalorian

If you’re a Star Wars fan, then surely you have at least heard of The 501st Legion. A group of fans who represent the gold standard for cosplay, having the most accurate costumes in the galaxy. As it turns out, the group will be appearing on screen in the upcoming series The Mandalorian from Jon Favreau.

During the show’s presentation over the weekend at Star Wars Celebration, Favreau spoke about the decision to bring the 501st into the show. You can check out what he had to say below.

“In the production meeting there were only so many Stormtrooper costumes they had. So we had to plan, has the 501st ever been on camera? I know they’ve been used by Lucasfilm.”

The 501st have been mainstays at conventions over the years and it’s nice to finally see them get some recognition in this fashion. The group will be part of history now appearing in the first live-action Star Wars television show

The show stars the super awesome Pedro Pascal and will be available for viewing when the Disney+ streaming service launches later this year. You can check out an official synopsis for the show below.

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
