The Conners Week 2 Episode Drops Considerably In Ratings From Premiere

ABC’s Roseanne-less spinoff, The Conners suffered a ratings drop of 25% during it’s second episode in comparison to its premiere. The show, which branches off from the wildly successful Roseanne, continues on the story of the Conner family, albeit, without the original shows namesake.

Anyone who follows television knows Roseanne was fired last summer within hours of posting controversial tweets that were deemed racist. ABC acted quickly in removing Roseanne and her hit show. Not long after, the network announced that the show wold in fact continue on, without Roseanne and with its new title, The Conners.

Of course, no one expected the ratings to be as they were last season. Also worth mentioning is that the World Series began last night (Viva Los Doyers!), and all showed that aired suffered from the event.

Some ABC executives have recently stated that perhaps the reacted too quickly in firing Roseanne, (this was before the 25% ratings drop). I think another agreement could have been reached that didn’t involve firing Roseanne. Perhaps in addition to her apology she could have donated a large sum of money to the charity of Valerie Jarrett’s choice.
