The Darkest Minds Trailer: Dangerous Teens With Powerful Abilities

The age of the superhero movie continues. However, in this particular instance, instead of being based on a comic book, it’s based on a YA novel. I’m talking about The Darkest Minds, which is based on the novel of the same name from Alexandra Bracken (which is the first of four books).

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for the film, and it very much feels like other similar projects we’ve seen in the past. In some ways, it has bits of The Gifted, some aspects of Runaways, and even that one movie from like a decade ago, Push. It features teens on the run with powerful abilities in a world that fears them.

Below is the official synopsis for The Darkest Minds:

When teens mysteriously develop powerful new abilities, they are declared a threat by the government and detained. Sixteen-year-old Ruby, one of the most powerful young people anyone has encountered, escapes her camp and joins a group of runaway teens seeking safe haven. Soon this newfound family realizes that, in a world in which the adults in power have betrayed them, running is not enough and they must wage a resistance, using their collective power to take back control of their future.
