The First Purge Teaser Trailer Keeps America Great

Not long after the first poster reveal for The First Purge, Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for the upcoming thriller.

Sadly, this isn’t your standard trailer that has footage from the film, but rather more of a viral video. Keeping in step with that initial poster, this teaser trailer is more of a fake political ad that paints the Purge as an American staple that leads to the betterment of the country as a whole. But, of course, as viewers, we know better.

Below is the official synopsis for The First Purge:

“Behind every tradition lies a revolution. Next Independence Day, witness the rise of our country’s 12 hours of annual lawlessness. Welcome to the movement that began as a simple experiment: The First Purge.

To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA) test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community. But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the marginalized, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation.”

What do you think of this first teaser trailer for The First Purge? Does it make you want to check out the film come Independence Day? Let us know your thoughts down below!

The First Purge hits theaters on July 4, 2018.
