The Office: 7 Years Later We Know What Pam Told Michael During Their Goodbye

There have been rumors of The Office making a return to television. But with many of the original cast members unaware of the status of that, many fans are not holding their breath. Like me a lot of them spend their time watching the series over and over and over again on Netflix.

One particular moment that always gets fans is Episode 22 of Season 7 of The Office titled, “Goodbye, Michael” which originally aired on NBC on April 28, 2011. In this episode, Michael Scott, played by Steve Carell, prepares to leave for Colorado with his girlfriend Holly, played by Amy Ryan. During the episode he spends a lot of time saying goodbye to everyone at the office except for Pam, played by Jenna Fischer, who thinks Michael still has one more day at work.

At the airport soon after Michael has removed his mic and walked through security, Pam catches up with him, embraces him and exchange words that were not picked up and results in leaving Pam crying. You can check out the scene below!

During a Q&A with her fans on Instagram, Fischer revealed that it wasn’t just a simple goodbye with Carell. “That was me talking to Steve,” she told her followers. “I told him all the ways I was going to miss him when we left our show. Those were real tears and a real goodbye. That was a really emotional scene.”

No doubt the show was never the same without Carell as “the worlds greatest boss”. With so many fans of The Office out there is would be great to see a reunion show at least. But with the success of Carell, and more recently John Krasinski who played Jim, that may be difficult to put together. But at least now while watching that scene we can say, “thats what she said”.

How did you feel about The Office post Carell? Let us know in the comment section below!

Currently, Fischer stars in ABC’s Splitting Up Together.
