The Suicide Squad: Michael Rooker Denies King Shark Casting Rumors

Last week, we reported on a piece from TheWrap. In it, they claimed that Michael Rooker was in talks to join James Gunn’s upcoming DC film, The Suicide Squad, which is set to be a soft reboot of the 2016 David Ayer-directed film. The report stated that the actor would be taking on the character of King Shark, who, as the name indicates, is a humanoid shark.

This would seemingly make a lot of sense. Rooker has made a lot of films with Gunn, and has essentially become the filmmaker’s good luck charm of sorts, so the report didn’t really make anyone blink. The big news here had to do with him playing King Shark, who would be an interesting add for the franchise. But is it true? This is the eternal question for these casting rumors.

Rooker himself took to Instagram and in a caption said:

“DA………..NOT!!!”

This seemingly debunks this rumor completely…unless the dude is lying. Of course, as stated above, it is very possible (and kind of expected) that he will at least be joining the project in some capacity. Given his history with Gunn, it would seem a bit odder for him not to join. But maybe King Shark simply isn’t the role he’s in discussions for.

Or he could be lying.

Umberto Gonzalez over at TheWrap has a solid track record, but ultimately isn’t perfect, so this can really go either way. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts down below!
