Theater Accidentally Shows Fifty Shades Instead Of Black Panther

Theaters aren’t perfect. We’ve all bad experiences. During a screening of the Avengers back in 2012, my theater kept showing the movie out-of-focus, and had to restart it no less than three times before they finally got it right. More recently, The Hateful Eight‘s opening 10 minutes played completely out of sync with its audio (by like 30 seconds), and by the time they were able to realign, they said they couldn’t restart it because, “film isn’t like digital, and they can’t just start it over.”

Not all theater experiences can be winners, and last night, one theater had a bit of a rude awakening when Fifty Shades Freed started to play instead of Black Panther. As you can imagine, the theater wasn’t too thrilled about it, with many people crying out in horror at the prospect of having to sit through the whole film.

As you can see, most of the theatergoers seemed to be good sports about the whole thing, with many people laughing at the ridiculousness, rather than being upset. There is something beautifully ironic about Fifty Shades Freed playing instead of a movie that features a full female army playing. It’s too ridiculous for it not to be funny.
