Shows evolve and change over time, and Arrow is one such show that has done so over the course of its lengthy run. More recently, Thea Queen actress Willa Holland had ended her run as a series regular, but she’s not the only one who will be saying goodbye.

According to a new report from EW, actor Paul Blackthorne will also be bowing out of Arrow this year before Season 7. For those who don’t know, Blackthorne plays Quentin Lance, father of Sara and Laurel Lance, who are either dead or presumed as such.

Quentin has always had an antagonistic relationship with Oliver, and thanks to the presumed death of Sara Lance prior to the events in the series on his yacht, when Oliver came back alive, Quentin was none too happy. In the first season or so of the show, Quentin was a police detective who worked to try and catch “the Hood,” which was Green Arrow’s early nickname. Later in Season 2, he started to work together with the Hood following his demotion, and their relationship didn’t get any less complex.

More recently, Quentin has succeeded Oliver Queen as the Mayor of Star City. Given the morbid fates of the Lance family, I can’t say I expect this guy to have a happy ending. Details surrounding his departure, and how it will be handled in the show, are currently being kept under wraps.
