This Once Upon A Deadpool Trailer Will Alleviate All Your Doubts

Once upon a time, Deadpool hit theaters in R-rated form. And it was good. Then, the Marvel gods descended from heaven and cast upon us a sequel –also R-rated — and it was also good. Now, the Marvel demons from below have reared their ugly heads and given us a PG-13 Deadpool film in the form of Once Upon a Deadpool, which will retell Deadpool 2 from in a much more family-friendly fashion.

Of course, this won’t be a strict, edited down version of that film, but a bit of a reimagining with lots of other scenes added in, including scenes where Deadpool is telling a story to a grown-up Fred Savage, of The Princess Bride and The Wonder Years fame. Sadly, Freddie ain’t really up for story time, but it’s not like that’s ever stopped Deadpool from doing stuff in the past.

“Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2006,” Ryan Reynolds told Deadline. “I’ve said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said ‘Yes’ on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining…”

While this idea reeked of a cash grab, this trailer managed to get me excited to see a film I’ve already seen twice again in theaters. And it even has me thinking that a genuinely funny Deadpool film is actually possible with a PG-13 rating…boy am I curious. How about you? Let us know your thoughts down below!
