Tim Burton Doubts Beetlejuice 2 Will Happen

Well, all five of you who were holding out hope that you’d be getting a sequel to the original Beetlejuice film may need to start letting said hope fall to the wayside. The original film is north of 30 years old at this point, and in spite of this, over the past several years, there seemed to be some weird, nebulous hope among the cast and even Burton himself that it could happen. But after all this time, it sounds like the perfect opportunity may never arise.

While promoting his next film, Dumbo, director Tim Burton was asked by USA Today what the progress was on the long-awaited sequel. In response, he mumbled, “Nothing, nothing.” And when pressed further if he thought it was going to happen, he said, “I don’t know. I doubt it,” he added, reportedly waving off any further questions on the subject.

Not to be super cynical about the whole thing, but I couldn’t be more indifferent on the whole thing. I loved the movie growing up, but I can’t say it holds any particular place in my heart. The idea of a sequel doesn’t really interest me in the slightest, but I can’t say I’d be closed off to the idea completely. As soon as I read this latest development, I couldn’t help but just nod and say to myself, “Okay, that makes sense.”

But how do you feel about it? Let us know your thoughts down below!
