Tin Foil Hat Theory: Metroid Prime 4 Could Show At The Game Awards

During last year’s E3 presentation (last year, as in 2017), Nintendo dropped a bombshell when they revealed they were hard at work on Metroid Prime 4. Fans of the GameCube and Wii franchise have been waiting to see it return for some time now. In fact, at the time, the Metroid franchise as a whole had been dormant for years, with only Metroid Prime: Federation Force to show for it.

We were overdue, and Nintendo knew the time was right to drop a new teaser. And they did. However, it was just a logo, and with that revelation, it was clear it’d be some time before we saw anything more of it. This past E3, we didn’t even get the slightest reference to the game, which was fine by most gamers, who assumed a 2019 release at the earliest.

But when could we hear more? Well, we may have hard our first hint. Take a look at this photo:

This photo shows off Geoff Keighly, producer and host for The Game Awards, which are set to air this coming December. Also in the photo is Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. You may also notice the dude is sporting a Metroid T-shirt. Of course, fans were quick to point that out:

This has led some to speculate that Metroid Prime 4 could make its first appearance at the Game Awards in some form. Yes, it’s a stretch, and while I wouldn’t be money on it, I certainly wouldn’t complain if we got our first taste of the awesomeness to come. Plus, it’d be a great way for Nintendo to show off right before the holiday season.
