TJ Miller Comments On His Role In Deadpool 2

Movieweb had the chance to sit down with TJ Miller and the topic of Deadpool 2 came up. While not really answering any questions directly, TJ Miller did have this to say.

“Marvel will cut off my hand and tongue if I tell you. But…let me just tell you that the second installment will be even more weaselicious. Let me just put it that way, to quote Pauly Shore. I’m very excited about it. That starts in August and September. I’m so excited. I know it means so much to Ryan that it’s good; and for the writers, and for all of us actually. The first one did so well, people loved it so much. I think they really put the time in on the script. I’m just so excited.”

While that comment may get people to think that we’re going to see more of TJ Miller in the film, I think people need to consider what was actually said in this quote. Think about it for a moment. The only bit of definitive information he gave was that filming starts in August or September. While some may rush to presume that based on his paraphrasing Pauly Shore, we’re going to see more of his character Weasel in the new film, I don’t think that comment confirms anything.

The film is going to have a heck of a time introducing Cable and Domino, as played by Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz respectively, that spending more time with a character that doesn’t really do much would be a waste. TJ Miller is a funny guy and I enjoyed his character in the small doses we saw of him in the first Deadpool. They would have to find a way to get his character more involved in the story to really justify his added presence. With the creative team involved, I have no doubt they could pull it off. This is not a scenario where I would hate to see his character given the extra screen time. I just don’t see how they could make it work.

So what do you think? Will we see more Weasel in Deadpool 2? Do you think the writers can find a way to justify more time on the screen for him? Sound off in the comments section below.
